Chiang Mai the unexpected trip Day 1 & 2

We made a last minute booking for this trip, it felt so spontaneous and initially made us felt a little lost on the itinerary. We've always planned at least three months in advance but this time we gave ourselves only two weeks. We headed for our trip early in the morning not expecting what to look forward to this foreign land. Look..we've been to the land of smile aka Bangkok few times and enjoyed it. We tried Phuket as well but didn't really suit us. Most of the activities at Phuket has been commercialized but Chiang Mai was so much different. The traffic, day tour and walks to the night market were all relaxing and paceful. Price wise was also much more competitive in comparison with Bangkok and Phuket.

Wat Pha Singh

Thai people love their banana fritters.

The famous Keatocha Chicken Rice along Inthawarorot Road. Malaysia satay is much better.

I visited Pacamara coffee shop three out of the four days trip. They make one of the smoothest and cafe latte at Chiang Mai.

Delanna Hotel.

White temple.

Karen long neck tribe.

Miam Miam @ One Utama

Some cafe you just got to try since it's newly open and frequently visited by many. We gave it a go and didn't disappoint either. We requested for the squid ink rice to be without any salt and MSG but the cook couldn't do much because the sauce have been pre made. I think most of the raw ingredients especially the sauce are made somewhere else, well you know to keep it a secret from the chef. Still it didn't make us too thirsty after the meal. We were supposed to try their famous french toast but had to wait for over 45 minutes...maybe next time around.

Then some coffee and dessert at Whisk coffee shop. They serve one of the best coffee at 1U (definitely better than the coffee shop beside it!)

The Coffee Club Malaysia @ Subang Parade

Newly open cafe at Subang Parade, boasting over 300 outlets all over the world. The Coffee Club is originated from Australia and I'm not surprised as oz really do take their coffee seriously. I had a cafe latte while my the half had hot chocolate. Unfortunately as the cafe is still new, they won't be serving breakfast until after 10am. The drinks tasted good and I must say the place is really great for hanging out. It's spacious, well lit and above all, have comfy seats.

Taylor Swift Live in KL Malaysia

One sold out concert, one night to be remembered and one great singer of this time. Malaysians have been very welcoming and supportive of Taylor Swift, why not she's talented and she sure is good with live concert.

Skytrex Shah Alam

This is a long overdue post on Skytrex extreme adventure we did back in May. I've been down busy with planning and reading up on some task to do for the next few months. We chose the early session at 8.30am which was great so we could escape the afternoon sun. This is the first time I've gone through this extreme sports which I've to say I really enjoyed it.

Jibby & Co @ Empire Subang

Today's Hours : 8:30 AM - 10:00 PM
Store Location : GK11

It wasn't a full house day but we still had to wait because they didn't want to seat two person in a table for four. We really didn't mind so we chose the bar corner which were great as well because you get the chance to people watch on a Sunday noon.

It has a modern interior and you get the feeling it's very similar to restaurant like Plan B, Dome. Pricing wise it's not the most affordable but the serving is huge enough to fill your hunger. We tried their pavlova cake which weren't that great as it had a strong eggish taste. However I did like their big breakfast which I ordered without salt. The tomato chutney was a good complement to the dishes.

Would I go back? Well I would only because there aren't many choices around that area for a good brunch.

PowerBar Protein Plus Review

Protein bar has been around for ages and many people has regarded it as a snack that's mostly loaded with sugar and carbs. Some of the bars even worsen IBS and you'd feel bloated. I was firstly introduced to PowerBar Protein Plus when I signed up for Brooks half marathon at Bukit Jalil. They were giving out this bar for free to all HM runners. To my surprise, it went well with my stomach and the recovery from this 20g protein bar was amazing. I felt less sore the day after and remember, this is a post workout bar, not something you would just want to have it if you're already hitting your daily protein requirement. If you're doing that, it's much more cost effective to stick with whey protein powder.

In general terms, an active person should consume 1.5-2grams of protein per kg of body weight. The main ingredients in this bar are top notched:
  • Soy protein isolate
  • Whey protein isolate
  • Calcium caseinate
  • Peanuts
The calorie tops at 210 which is low in comparison with many other protein bars out there. It might not be sufficient for some who's trying to bulk or increase weight.

I highly rate this bar at 4/5 being a low calorie, high protein and easy on the stomach. It's selling for RM10.90 at most health store and pharmacies.

Bulking Phase 1

Today marks the day I start my embarkation on the bulking phase number 1. The main thing is to add 22 pounds/10 kg over two months (give or take 2-3 months). I don’t want to add on much fat but mainly size and power. Definitely going to affect some of my speed during running but I can live with a couple of minutes slower. So I decided to have a go with Optimum Pro Complex Gainer (PCG) mainly because previously I’ve tried their whey protein and it went well with my stomach unlike GNC whey protein and Amplified Mass xxx.
I just had my first shake of PCG and so far no feeling of bloated or stomach discomfort. I did feel much more energise while cranking of Insanity workout earlier but it could well be psychological effect. Will be posting more updates once I’ve finished the 5.08 pound tube.

Chose vanilla custard over double chocolate with the hope that it will not be too heaty. And yes  over consumption of chocolate causes constipation.

Not cheap at RM223.92 for member price but still offer better value than consuming red meat daily.

There you go, a high protein lean gainer. We all hate fats.

Looks kinda like flour ain’t it? An expensive flour I can say.

Massive scoop! They’re crazy they could have gone with a  smaller scoop and should have required us to take 2-3 serving. You’re going to have messy place if you stick with this scoop. Best recommendation is to use the other supplements scoop such as the ON Whey Protein.
